Today, June 6th is the day after the surgery and my mom is doing so well, she even was able to walk out to the waiting room and sit for a visit. It is just amazing how much better she is with her speech already. Just yesterday I was giving her a hug to tell her that my husband Bill wanted me to tell her that he loved her and would be praying for her during her surgery and she didn't know who I was talking about. Today she was remembering everyone and bringing up things that we had forgotten about.
I can't tell you what a relief it is for all of us to have our sweet mommy/grandma back to where she was, almost. There will be some more recovery to do and then treatment for the tumor cells that are left in her brain, but we know that God is good and very able to get her back to where she was.

ReplyDeleteI Spoke with Geri yesterday. Although she had a little trouble forming her words at a few points in the conversation - for the most part she was lucid and clear in her speech. Especially once she got past the initial start-up of the conversation. She said the entire experience of having brain cancer has been a blessing because of how God has used it in her life and those around her. She wanted to know how I was doing (really!?#%!). We laughed and she cried when she thought about the possibility of not pulling through this. But she was filled with joy and sweetness even when she cried.
